Complete Series Review: School Rumble

So the anime School Rumble revolves around a series of relationships in high school. For the non romance fans don't worry. Its more comedy then romance. If you still don't believe me then look it up on YouTube. The series has two main character: Kenji Harima and Tenma Tsukamoto. Harima is in love with Tenma but Tenma is in love with Karasuma. This love Triangle is pretty crazy considering that Harima is a regular old thug, Tenma is not so much on the bright side, and Karasuma doesn't care about any of this this. All Karasuma wants to do is eat rice balls all day. Either way he's on this roller coaster.

Tenma has a hard time confessing to Karasuma and Harima has the same problem towards Tenma. One day Harima writes two letter: one a love letter to Tenma and the other which is his resignation from school. The thing is that he put the letters into the wrong envelope and tragedy strikes. Tenma gets the resignation letter and tries to convince Harima to stay in school while Harima is on a date with his male homeroom teacher. He couldn't get out of the date. His teacher isn't gay but it was just a coincidence that they went to the movies.

Crunchyroll Manga -- How to Make It Better!

I recently with the new, Crunchyroll manga section.I find Crunchyroll's foray into manga to be a good first step. The question then becomes, what else can Crunchyroll do to get better?I have some thoughts there.

Reading Habits

This post has absolutely nothing to do with music. Sadly, nor Hyouka.

I've always loved reading. I became a book addict at a very young age, and my love of reading has continued through primary school, high school and uni (where I am now). Discovering anime, and by extension manga in late 2010 has given me even more reading material. However, my manga revelation unfortunately coincided with an increased workload, which sadly continues to this day. This meant I needed to figure out a way to balance my book and manga reading.

weekly obsessions 8

Fables Comic - I started reading the comic Fables about a few weeks ago. I don't know if you pay attention to video/computer games like I do, but Telltale Games just released a video game based off of these comics. I like Telltale Games for their iPad game series Puzzle Agent. Anyway! Fables is about fairy tale characters living amongst humans in NYC. & it is really interesting to see all the references they make to things that happened in the storybook. The characters are also totally not like the innocent, Disney-like, type that we're used to. They are murders, thieves, and even prostitutes. The comic book series is longgggggggggggggg. & my torrent king was able to get them all for me.Because, comics are not cheap.& I don't even read comics! But I like this one a lot! It's cool to see that Prince Charming is now a gigalo, that the big bad wolf is in love with Snow White. & that Beauty & Beast have martial issues. Check it out.

Hot Chocolate - My daily blood transfusion. Extra whip cream.

Corn Muffins - What? Omg. I'm not a muffin person, I'm not even a cupcake person. But, recently in my school cafeteria, something called me over to the corn muffins. & it was soooooooo good. But, while I was eating it, I kept coming across a chewy surprise. At first I was like oh, it's nuts. Then I thought it was some type of bland raisin. But noooooooo, it was actual corn niblets in the muffin!Pure bliss :']

Voice Actor/Actress Appreciation Post #2

I know it's kind of boring for me to do the same post on consecutive days... but it's just how I feel today. As for today's VA, I'd like to highlight Horie Yui. Horie Yui voiced several characters I really liked in their respective series, a few include: Kotori from the first two Da Capo seasons, Minori from Toradora, Eri from School Rumble, Ryuunosuke and his program, Maid-chan, from Sakurasou, and Akane from Yuru Yuri. Today I'd like to highlight her characters in Toradora, School Rumble, and Sakurasou.

On choosing and continuing anime series

I watch a lot of anime. Not as much as those people who marathon late into the night, but a good amount. After a while, you come across the problem of, do I continue to watch this? There are different ways to deal with this. Asking it in the beginning of a series, some people have a 3 episode rule, always watching the first 3 before deciding. Another is to watch the first episode, and see if theres anything you like. Often this is combined with the 3 rule. Some watch the whole series regardless, because it bothers them not to finish, or they keep saying, but it could get good. Its often a good idea to look at the review if you are in doubt. Usually the majority can tell you if its worth watching or not. But sometimes stuff you'd really like is specific to you, and most people dont think its spectacular. For me that was shows like school rumble, where I'd be laughing uncontrollably at it almost every episode. But it doesnt seem to be that way for some people. Ultimately only you know whether you'd enjoy it. Pacing is important. Some shows change pace as they catch up to their manga source. Like one piece now is 1 episode= 1 chapter. Hunter X Hunter is still at 2-3 chapters an episode. Slower can mean more in depth, more often meaning drawn out scenes, which sometimes have a bit more detail to them since the timeslot has to be filled.

Hoarding anime you are going to watch, is it a good idea? I used to think so, afraid I'd forget. But time passes, and as you go through the list sometimes you don't care about what you did before. And it gets huge. I used to have to scrap my list every year because itd get too large. Now I realize it was just a thing to give me false security that I'd remember to watch it later. If you really want to see it, I feel you'll remember. Watching anime, do you do other things at the same time? I used to, but then it was harder to judge if I really wanted to see the series or not. So now I make it full screen, and unless I have a good reason for moving to another thing, I have to scrap the series if I close the window. If I find it too boring, I throw it in a bookmark folder called revive?, and give it time. If I forget about it, then its gone.

Day 2: Your Dream Profession. (Go into detail and explain your answer.)

TO BE A FREAKING VOICE ACTRESS.

That's my ultimate dream. Being a voice actress was my first dream and I haven't given up on it yet. I really want to be a voice actress. Voice actresses and actors are cool. For me they have the coolest profession in the whole world! THEY CAN MOVE PEOPLE TO TEARS JUST BY THEIR VOICES HOW AWESOME IS THAT??? Well, of course they really can't do the moving-people-to-tears-just-by-their-voices thing without the help of the story and the facial expressions of the anime or whatever they're giving voice, but still they're amazing!

Autumn 2013 Anime Preview

I'm back bitches~!I have been back in the warm embrace of my PC & wonderful internet connection for three weeks now - it's been a strange experience. For a start Ireland feels bloody tiny, but the crap public transport means that I am sorely missing not having a car.I am pretty much bankrupt thanks to my trip (which was loads of fun) so had a frantic first week home of job searching.Thankfully I got a temporary 2 month contract to tide me over for a while .which meant very little time being a NEET and catching up on things.

Being the obsessive fan I am, I did manage to keep up with a choice selection of shows from the seasons I was AWOL, but still have a lengthy list of things I want to check out - will get round to them eventually. But anyhoo, you're here for the Autumn Preview, so lets get cracking! (Can't tell you how much I missed doing these things - exhausting, but satisfying~!)

My History with Anime

In my first post I won't be evaluating any anime show, movie, or manga series in particular, I'll be retracing my steps of how I ever became an anime lover.

My love and passion for anime can be traced back to when I was in kindergarten. It first started when I watched Pokemon and began to cheer Ash and Pikachu all the way on their quest to becoming "the very best", renting and buying as many seasons as I could, watching all the movies, acquiring their merchandise, and even drawing as many pokemon that were on Google Images. After a few years I decided to branch out a bit more and try a new anime called Digimon.Even at age seven I saw how much of a rip off Digimon was of Pokemon. Both had cool little monsters that change shape with human masters. After a few episodes though I decided there was enough of a difference between each show for me to enjoy them both. The monsters in Digimon talked like any other human and their origin was actually cooler than any pokemon. They came from an alternate digital world, a game actually, that started to leak into the real world. It was like Tron only in reverse, the digital world merging with the real world.I still liked Pokemon better, and still do, mostly because it was truly the first thing I ever became a fanatic of.

THE INDUSTRY STANDARD IS OUR FORBES

Robot Apocalypse

Friends are the best, am I right? Always looking out for you, there for you when you need them. You can count on your real friends to tell you when your pants make you look fat or your fly's undone.

My friends say things like "I was at the store the other day, and I saw this shirt, and I just knew it was perfect for you," or "I heard this song and I thought you'd love it!" Things like "I wanted to tell you about this place you'd enjoy," and "Did you like that article I sent you about giant squids?" and "I found a video that can help you with that guitar chord you were telling me about."

Warm Colors and Kind Smiles

Hello. Today is a topic that I feel needs some attention. It is sadly a point of contention and confusion in the Western anime fandom as people struggle to figure out this Japanese concept. I will attempt to explain my perspective on it.

Anime has many different genres. It is as diverse as live action television in its themes and content. Within the anime medium, there are certain trends. One of these trends is known as moe (with an accent on the e). The impact it has had on anime is widespread and it is by no means a new thing. Anime has been focusing on character appeal for many years. This generation of anime is an especially character focused time. The anime fandom community deeply enjoys interesting characters and their interactions. Moe is in response to that.

Cosplay Plans: Phase 0

AS I MENTIONED A FEW WEEKS AGO I WOULD LIKE TO ATTEMPT A COSPLAY OF SOME KIND THIS YEAR AT YOUMACON.

I've been debating on a lot of different anime characters, including Yucie (Petite Princess Yucie), Tenma (School Rumble), Kagome (InuYasha) and Howl (Howl's Moving Castle). Once thinking through the different ideas I realized that I wouldn't actually finish a complicated cosplay - so I decided to cosplay as my alter ego in a sailor fuku.

Anime Mondays #26

It's been a pretty quiet month concerning anime.I just haven't had a whole lot of time at all to plow through anything. And if I don't have at least three shows to talk about, I'll hold it over for a week. This weekend, I went to visit some of my buddies up in Detroit (a good four hours away) and it was like being on another planet.Or, at least in South Jersey.Michigan lefts?Oh, no, those are Jersey U-turns.But driving woes aside, it was an awesome time.Plus, we went to the cupcake store.I pretty much want to live there.

25 Best Romance Animes

1. AKANE-IRO NI SOMARU SAKA

A short and sweet anime with likable characters and what I thought to be a good story line. Although it was completely based on romance, they did not show much progress and all the romance was squeezed in near the end. Very good over all.

5 Favorite Slice-of-Life Series

As some of you may know or noticed, I'm a huge fan of slice-of-life series. Nothing makes me happier than to unwind with some lighthearted, fun series that usually are slice-of-life. Slice-of-life in anime refers to series with little plot and character development. More often than not, the series are filled with comedic moments.

You probably already know that, don't you?

Anime Wednesdays Confession Corner: Popular Anime I Have Not Watched

I know you're all probably tired of lists since countdown week just past, but a long time ago, I did a confession corner post about the most popular books that I had not read for Literature Tuesdays and I figured it'd be cool to do the same thing with anime. I've seen a little over 30 anime, but even still, there are some really popular, mainstream ones that I have never seen before. I've never finished them, I've never even watched one episode from these series, but everyone talks about it and I see advertisements about the anime all the time. It's enough to pique my interest, but as of right now, this is a list of anime I've never watched:

The Summer School Series – Introduction

It’s a new year, which means the is fast approaching.
